I am going on my first ever long haul flight from London Heathrow to Singapore, then on to Perth in October. Being 6'5", and after receiving advice form the nice BA sales team, I have opted for a seat on premium economy and having read your reviews re. the A380, i am more excited than ever about this trip. I hope your reviews are pretty accurate!

Yikes, the pressure's on now Gazz!!! :-) But seriously, I think you'll have a great flight -- such a comfortable plane compared to the 747.

Nice to hear from you Gruber! Yeah, lack fo sleep, chest cough and international air travel is a horrible, horrible combination. I caught something in China on my last trip there (not surprising since the air in Shanghai is like breathing gaseous sandpaper) and had a very unpleasant trip home. I had procured some Chinese cold and flu tablets at the medical clinic at the Shanghai international airport (no pharmacy there at all.. you just had to see a doctor, and describe your symptoms in hand gestures, coughs and snorts to demonstrate the symptoms) and I reckon they put WAY more psuedoephedrine into those pills than normal. I felt aggro all the way home. If in China, avoid "Squibb Bufferin" pills.

For anyone who happens to stand taller than 4"1' the A380 seems the only way to fly.

I was stuck in the mentioned Deconomy seats on a long international not so long ago. Combine that with no sleep prior and a wonderful chesty cough... well... you get the picture.

Thanks for the insight mate, and I concur with Lesley. I just want to fly!

Arrgh don't you hate that Lesley... when you manage to score a seat that is actually worse than economy. Well, yes, I can absolutely recommend the A380. My friend Michael Kratz says the Singapore A380 was very similar. Can't wait for more A380s to make their way out to various routes... at the moment they seem clustered on the Sydney-London and Sydney-LA routes.

Hey Dan, I was stuck in Row 28 of the Boeing 777 from Sydney to Vancouver recently. That's the row in front of the loos with absolutely 0% reclining. Your 'review' makes me just want to fly .. well anywhere.

The SYD-LAX flights pass over my house at ~1000m. I can tell you the A380 is *much* quieter from the outside, too.
