Hollywood has done it again. In the vein of that fantastic literal line from Twister, "uh oh, we got cows", a new movie due out later this year will be called "Snakes on a Plane".
As Wired Magazine put it, this "absolutely artless title" has spawned a whole cult following before the movie has even been launched.
The improbable premise of the movie is that an assassin hell-bent on killing a person in witness protection being transported on a commercial flight releases a crate of deadly snakes on the plane. How the crate of snakes got onto the passenger compartment of a plane in the first place is immaterial. Duuuude, there are SNAKES ON A PLANE!
The producers of the movie reportedly wanted to rename it to "Pacific Air 121" but star Samuel L. Jackson put his foot down, reportedly saying in an online interview:
Beaks: One of those films that you're working on right now is… well, it's called "Pacific Air 121"–
Jackson: Snakes on a Plane, man!
Beaks: Exactly.
Jackson: We're totally changing that back. That's the only reason I took the job: I read the title.
Beaks: Snakes on a Plane! That's everything!
Jackson: You either want to see that, or you don't.
